Rhodes

The Island Rhodes is the second biggest Greek Island after Crete and is part of the Dodecanese. It is very close to the Turkish coast and you can take a day trip to the Turkish town of Marmaris. Despite its size you can drive around the island in one day if you want and no place is very far to travel. The interior is mountainous and the east coast has the best beaches while the west coast is more rugged and less well developed. Lahania is far enough to the south on the east coast to escape the built up areas nearer the airport but still has three milesof relatively undeveloped beach. There is little point in trying to write a guidebook here but you will find that there is plenty to do and see. I have been to this island dozens of times and I am still finding new places. Of course you don't have to do a thing except enjoy the surroundings and soak up the sun.
